Polling Place Wait Times

Texas is experiencing record turnout and enthusiasm, and some Early Voting locations may be experiencing some wait times. As long as you are in line by 7pm, you can vote. Travis and Tarrant counties have online tools that can tell you what the approximate wait time is at various Early Voting Polling Locations, too.

What forms of ID do I need to vote?

In order to vote in-person or to return your mail-in ballot in person in Texas, you'll need an acceptable form of photo ID, current or expired less than 4 years.

  1. • Texas Driver’s License / ID card
  2. • Texas election ID
  3. • Texas handgun license
  4. • US military ID with photo
  5. • US citizenship certificate with photo
  6. • US passport

Alternatively, voters without ID will need to sign a sworn statement and present one of the following:

  1. • copy or original of a government document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate;
  2. • copy of or original current utility bill;
  3. • copy of or original bank statement;
  4. • copy of or original government check;
  5. • copy of or original paycheck; or
  6. • copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document).

Alternatively, voters who don’t have an ID and can’t provide one of the alternative IDs listed above, can request a provisional ballot. The provisional ballot will only count if the voter goes to the voter registrar’s office 6 days after the election to present proof.
