Privacy
This site does not track you. I don't use analytics scripts or tracking cookies. Here's what that means.
Surveillance capitalism is bad.
The dominant model of the modern web and tech platforms is to collect as much data as possible about every visitor, build behavioral profiles, and sell access to those profiles to advertisers. I reject that model.
If you want to understand what that model does to democracy, civil liberties, and the ability to organize, the Electronic Frontier Foundation has been documenting it for decades.
What this site does not do
- No tracking cookies of any kind
- No third-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Heap, no Hotjar
- No ad networks, no retargeting pixels, no Facebook or X tracking
- No fingerprinting — no scripts that identify you by browser characteristics
- No Google Fonts — fonts are self-hosted, so no request is made to Google servers when you load this site
- No third-party embeds that track you (social widgets, video players)
- Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with any third party
What infrastructure providers see
Like every website, this site runs on infrastructure that logs basic HTTP request data — your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and the timestamp. This is a technical necessity, not surveillance. Two providers handle this:
- Vercel hosts the site and captures standard server logs for operational purposes. Vercel's privacy policy.
- Supabase stores any data you voluntarily submit through the contact or newsletter form — nothing else. Supabase's privacy policy.
Neither provider is in the business of selling your data to advertisers. Infrastructure logs are not the same as behavioral tracking.
If you submit a form
If you choose to submit your email address through the newsletter or contact form, that email is stored in Supabase and used only to send you updates from Julie. It is not shared with anyone. It is not enriched with data from other sources. You can request deletion at any time by emailing julie@julieoliver.org.
Your rights
You have the right to know what data this site holds about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted. Email julie@julieoliver.org and it will be handled promptly.
Verify it yourself
You don't have to take this page at its word. Install the EFF's Privacy Badger or open your browser's network inspector and look for third-party requests while loading this site. You won't find trackers because there aren't any.
Changes
If this policy changes, the change will be documented on this page. Last updated: May 2026.
